What dominion expansions should i buy
These include fewer cards than the larger expansions, but can still change the game in drastic ways. For example, the Alchemy expansion introduces potion cards, a sort of currency used to buy and play powerful action cards. The other two small expansions are Cornucopia and Guilds. At one point, these two expansions were sold together in one box which made them a great value for some genuinely fun cards. At at the time of this writing, however, they have fallen out of print, making them very hard to find at a reasonable price.
Finally, there are loads of one-off promotional cards that were given out as favors to attendees of various festivals and conventions.
Generally they are pretty rare and hard to find, and none feel like must-owns. Which Dominion expansions hit your table most often? Which mix and match the best?

Now decks have a variable strength. So it may or may not be worth it to get the artifacts, and that is something that really makes this set stand out to me. Another really cool part to this set is villagers, where they act as actions that can be banked for use on later turns.
So holding onto a large amount of actions for the late game is always a blast. If you are able, you can build your deck even faster to get ahead of the curve of other players. Project cards are cards that you can buy and the effect lasts for you for the entire game. This is a cool feature that really just adds more abilities and nuance to each players turn. This set just has so many interesting things to it and is a perfect set to look out for when wanting to have a slightly more complex game that offers many new features.
You can pull this out for virtually any player and you will all have a great time playing it. That is why Nocturne has been placed all the way up at the top here. Nocturne is a crazy set. Many games attempt to do day and night cycles. Games that I truly love, like the blood moon expansion in Talisman 4th Edition revised. This basically expands the amount of parts to a turn. At night there are no limits to actions and that is really fun to do. It also makes me feel mischievous doing things in the darkness to screw over the other players.
It takes the concept of Intrigue and blows it out of the water with theme and mechanics. There are also boon cards in this set that are activated by using bards that can be purchased from the purchase decks.
The game plays with three of these and though they are activated via the bard, they play similar to events in other sets. Hex cards that you can give players can result in state cards that do all sorts of damaging effects to your fellow players like reduce their victory points, or stop a player from buying things on a turn. The hexes are really fun and still fit with the overall dark theme of the box. The theme of the game is also just super fun to play. It introduces zombies and vampires. The night time feature is crazy fun to, just having the extra step with your turn after the buy phase where all the gloves come off makes this a joy to play.
Be sure to pick this copy up, my table has so much fun with this expansion and it comes out several times a year. Intrigue and Seaside — in either order — would be my choices for the first two expansions. The cards are fun, the attacks are formidable. These both blend nicely with the original base set, usually producing a well-balanced game. From there, there are three ways you can go. I recommend getting all three of these at some point.
Hinterlands — This expansion enlarges the game all around by small increments. Contains some very powerful cards, and some cards allow you to do things when you buy or gain them. The overall feel of the set is that it gave me some new ways to view — and use — many cards from the older sets. Cornucopia — In my opinion, the best of the small sets.
The focus is that this set promotes having a diverse selection of cards in your deck. Overall, this set is geared toward big money. Guilds — this is probably the blandest of the small sets. Oh, and many cards will give you something when you trash other cards. I personally think Dark Ages is easier. They are not a part of the normal Dominion Games.
They could be from one of the fan games. Pingback: Review: Dominion Prosperity - Gameruman. Most Eurogamers seem to prefer the base game and Prosperity or Seaside.
The later expansions, starting with Dark Ages are, imo, for experienced players. Of course, if an expansion is on sale and the reviews look good to you, buy it! I am new to dominion but I have played base seaside intriuge cornucopia guilds alchemy and prosperity I love the game overall even just the base and alchemy is an eh but there is just no ruining this game from the gods.
Hey all! We already have the base set, Seaside, and Intrigue. What should we get next? Please suggest your top 3 and why, preferably listing them by preference!
Of course, if you find an expansion on sale, buy it! Ameritrash: Intrigue, Hinterlands, Cornucopia and Guilds. Nocturne has some random events Hexes and Boons which some Eurogamers may not like.
